Safety checks at Russian nuclear power plants are carried out in three stages. A Nuclear.Ru's special correspondent in St. Petersburg reports this as said April 19 by Rosatom's director general Sergey Kiriyenko at the International Public Forum Dialogue "Atomic Energy, Society, Safety-2011.

"Stage one means the inspection accomplished by Rosatom to verify documentation and "actual performance of the equipment," according to Kiriyenko. Stage two is a regulatory inspection by Rostechnadzor that nears the end. Stage two implies an inspection by the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO). "When we put together results of all three inspections, we will be ableto speak on objectiveness of these data," Kiriyenko noted.
