MOSCOW, December 27 – In Russia, commissioning of Rostov-4 named one of ten key events of passing 2018 in the global nuclear power according to one of the world information resources in this sphere the journal Nuclear Engineering International (NEI) which is published in the United Kingdom.
Unit 4 of Rostov NPP was commissioned three months earlier on September 28, on the Russian Nuclear Worker’s Day. This is the last VVER-1000 reactor built in the territory of Russia.
The Top-10 events of 2018, according to NEI, include also the start-up of the first EPR in China which belongs to the modern generation of power units “III+”. The first units of the Generation III+ have started operation at Novovoronezh Phase 2 and Leningrad Phase 2 in Russia. VVER-1200 reactors operate there. Besides, the Top-10 events include restart of several units at different NPPs after the Fukushima accident in Japan and plans to build nuclear power plants announced by the Polish government in the country.
