On January 16-17, 2018, the delegation of ROSATOM and its subsidiaries, headed Deputy Director General of ROSATOM Mr. N.N. Spasskiy, paid a working visit to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

The Russian delegation was received by the President of Sri Lanka H.E. M. Sirisena. The negotiations were held with the Minister of Science, Technology and Research Dr. S. Premajayantha and the Minister of Energy and Renewable Resources Mr. R. Siyambalapitiya During the visit there were also held consultations with the heads of the Atomic Energy Agency and the Regulatory Authority for Atomic Energy of Sri Lanka. The meetings were participated by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia in Sri Lanka Mr. Yu.B. Materiy.
During the negotiations the parties discussed in details the entire range of issues associated with the cooperation between the Russian Federation and Sri Lanka in the area of peaceful uses of atomic energy. The dialogue will continue. Mr. N.N. Spasskiy invited the inter-departmental delegation of Sri Lanka to pay a visit to Russia for negotiations and visits to the facilities of the Russian nuclear industry. The parties also discussed the opportunities for participation in the upcoming X International Forum ATOMEXPO-2018.
