On October 23 in Belgrade Deputy Director General of ROSATOM Nikolai Spasskiy had a meeting with President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Serbia Aleksandr Chepurin and Minister without Portfolio in charge of Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popovic.
Nikolai Spasskiy informed Serbia’s President in detail about the work being done to start the cooperation between the two countries in the field of the peaceful use of atomic energy. Both sides expressed certainty that the existing moratorium banning development of nuclear power in Serbia was not an obstacle for this work.

As the priory, both sides consider a project of building a nuclear science and technology center based on a Russia-designed research reactor in Serbia. Shortly, it is planned to prepare for signing a framework intergovernmental agreement on peaceful atom. President of Serbia intends to personally control these issues.
