BANGKOK, November 13, 2017 — ROSATOM Southeast Asia, a subsidiary of ROSATOM (Russia), and Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Mr. Egor Simonov, Head of ROSATOM Southeast Asia, and Prof. Bundhit Eua-arporn, President of Chulalongkorn University, affixed their signatures to the document that is aimed at intensifying the dialogue in nuclear science and education between Russia and Thailand.
The parties agreed to develop partnership between Chulalongkorn University and Russian higher educational institutions, as well as research and educational enterprises of ROSATOM.
“Development in nuclear science and technology is one of the cornerstones to support the implementation of the national strategy. In addition to power generation, nuclear technologies are widely used in medicine, agriculture and other important industries,” Prof. Bundhit Eua-arporn stated.
“Our cooperation will contribute to higher public awareness of nuclear technologies and their role in sustainable development of Thailand,” Mr. Egor Simonov noted.
On November 13 the first event under the newly signed MoU took place. Chulalongkorn University held an open lecture by Dr. Ekaterina Petrova from National Research Nuclear University MEPhI on Innovative Nuclear Technologies for Sustainable Development.
According to the contract signed on September 7, 2017, ROSATOM will be a technology supplier for a cyclotron complex with radiochemical laboratories for the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT).
