April 15, 2019, Sochi. – Russian Federation and the Republic of Ethiopia have signed a roadmap for establishing cooperation on the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) and a Center for nuclear science and technology (CNST) in the African country.
The document was signed within the framework of the XI International Forum ATOMEXPO 2019 by the General Director of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom Alexey Likhachev and Getahun Mecuria Kuma, the Minister of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia.
The roadmap determines specific steps in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy. The parties plan have identified joint actions within the framework of NPP construction and CNST construction projects. Thus, a foundation is laid for training personnel and raising public awareness about atomic energy.

On June 19, 2017, in Moscow, the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM and the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of the Republic of Ethiopia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy. The Memorandum created a legal basis for implementing bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas.
