Atomenergomash, the equipment manufacturing and engineering division of Russia's ROSATOM, has been audited on its ability to manufacture and supply long lead items of equipment for the Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant under construction at Pyhäjoki, in northern Finland.

Atomenergomash said yesterday that the audit team, which included representatives of Finland's Fennovoima, had concluded its quality management system "complies with all the necessary requirements and criteria". A Gidropress-designed AES-2006 plant, which uses a 1200 MWe-class reactor, Hanhikivi 1 is scheduled to start generating electricity by 2024.
