Russia's Federal Centre for Nuclear and Radiation Safety and Federal State Unitary Enterprise RADON have completed a survey of radioactive waste management systems they started in 2014 at Armenia's sole nuclear power plant.
The results of the survey will inform Armenia's State Committee on Nuclear Safety Management's plans for the operating life extension of unit 2 of the plant.
The plant, which is near the city of Metsamor, consists of two VVER-440 reactors, the first of which was shut down in 1989.
Russia and Armenia agreed in December 2014 to cooperate on the extension of unit 2.
