Nuclear power specialists from Bangladesh's first nuclear power plant, Rooppur 1, have begun their three-month internship with Russian state corporation ROSATOM, as part of a bilateral agreement between the two countries according to which ROSATOM will build and commission two VVER-1200 units, as well as train personnel to work at the plant.
By the end of this year, more than 500 Bangladeshis will have undergone an internship at Russia’s Novovoronezh nuclear power plant - which in 2016 became the first VVER-1200 to start operations – and, by 2022, about 1500 in total.
