A series of educational online lectures on a various aspects of the nuclear energy applications for representatives from the Indonesian Polytechnic Institute of Nuclear Technology (PINT) has started at the Rosatom Technical Academy. The training is conducted to support the international cooperation of the Russian Federation and ROSATOM with the Republic of Indonesia in the development of the Indonesian national nuclear power programme.
More than 100 students of "nuclear" majors and faculty members of the Indonesian university have participated in the first lecture on the "Biological Effects of Radiation" topic. Elena Onischuk, project manager of the Rosatom Technical Academy, an expert in the field of radiation safety and nuclear medicine technologies, was a speaker. During the training the lecturer told the audience about the various features of the ionizing radiation effect on biological materials and answered questions from the audience.
The next events of the educational lectures series for Indonesian specialists and students are scheduled to be held before the end of 2022. The topics of the training cover a number of issues: from ensuring nuclear and radiation safety at nuclear power plants to chemical technologies for the nuclear fuel production and instrumentation for measuring the ionizing radiation level.
For reference:
Cooperation with the Republic of Indonesia is implemented within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Rosatom Technical Academy and the Polytechnic Institute of Nuclear Technologies PINT, signed in December 2020, as well as through the innovative project "International cooperation with the Republic of Indonesia 2021-2025" of the Technical Academy. Joint activities with Indonesia have been carried out since 2015. It was during that period that the first agreement was signed between the Rosatom Technical Academy (then - Rosatom-CICE&T) and the National Atomic Energy Agency of Indonesia (BATAN). All these years, active cooperation continued. As a result, over the past 7 years, more than 450 representatives of the nuclear industry from the Republic of Indonesia have been trained at the Rosatom Technical Academy: specialists, managers, operators of nuclear research facilities, faculty members and students. During two meetings in February and April 2022 representatives of the Rosatom Technical Academy and the Polytechnic Institute of Nuclear Technology outlined a preliminary plan for the road map implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, and agreed on a plan of joint activities for 2022 as well. In 2021, more than 300 students, specialists and faculty members from various organizations of Indonesia took part in the online educational modules on nuclear technology organized by the Technical Academy.
