The Children's Foresight Social Project supported by TVEL Fuel Company of ROSATOM is ranked among the finalists in the Education nomination of the BRICS Solutions Awards. BRICS is a group of five rapidly developing countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South African Republic.
BRICS Solutions Awards was initiated in October last year by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, the Roscongress Foundation and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was scheduled for the year of BRICS Russia 2020 Presidency. More than 230 international sustainable development practices were submitted to the contest. The contest finalists received their diplomas in January 2021.
The main goal of the project is to involve the younger generation in improving the environment. Autonomous Non-profit Organization Agency has been implementing the project for Social Investment and Innovation since 2012. In 2019, TVEL Fuel Company of ROSATOM joined the project and the program was launched in the cities of Glazov (Republic of Udmurtia) and Zelenogorsk (Krasnoyarsk Region).
Participation in the Children's Foresight Project is often the first independent project experience for schoolchildren in atomic industry cities. They offer their business ideas or social initiatives to improve the quality of life.
“There is a variety of tasks: improving utility or transport infrastructure, improving public spaces and creating new playgrounds for the leisure of adolescents and young people, developing projects to help the elderly, environmental initiatives or solving the issue of homeless animals, etc.,” said Mr. Yuri Krivov, the Director on Regional Work and Social Projects at TVEL.
In 2021, TVEL Fuel Company of ROSATOM launched the Children's Foresight Project in Seversk (Tomsk Region) and Novouralsk (Sverdlovsk Region). The Program includes workshops for teachers on the children's foresight technology, foresight sessions with schoolchildren, where they will start developing their own project ideas and other events. The cycle is intended for an academic year and its final event will be the "Do-It-Yourself City" festival, where teams shall present information about completed projects to the citizens and authorities, and children who show themselves most vividly in the project will be rewarded with vouchers for a summer camp.
