On May 25, the Memorandum in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy was signed by ROSATOM and German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations on the sidelines of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. 
The document was signed by the Director General of ROSATOM Alexey Likhachev, on behalf of the Russian side, and by the Chairman of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations Wolfgang Büchele, on behalf of the German side respectively.
The following Memorandum is aimed to analyze the possibilities to implement cooperation projects in the sphere of the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the application of nuclear technologies in general industrial and innovative domains. 
The document includes certain promising directions such as cooperation in the German back-end, including spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and radioactive waste (RW) management. It also touches upon the cooperation with regard to the nuclear safety, scientific and technological collaboration in the sphere of nuclear knowledge management and preservation. The Memorandum on Cooperation also specifies the intentions to establish cooperation with third countries, including the search of potential projects with mutual engagement prospective. 
The parties also agreed to join forces to improve the worldwide public acceptance of the nuclear energy, which is an essential component of the future green energy mix.
