Rusatom Service JSC (electric power division of ROSATOM) and Kozloduy NPP (Bulgaria) signed a contract on neutron-flux monitoring equipment modernization for units 5 and 6 of the plant. This contract was concluded, based on the results of a public tender, which was announced in September, 2019.

Neutron-flux monitoring equipment plays an essential role in ensuring NPP safety and is used in VVER reactor control and protection systems.

Modernization of this system is a high-priority task. JSC OKB GIDROPRESS (the chief designer of Kozloduy NPP reactors) and National Research Center «Kurchatov Institute» (the plant’s nuclear research advisor) will be involved in approval of necessary technical documentation. JSC SNIIP Systematom, which has wide experience and references in similar projects, will act as a supplier of the main components of the equipment.

The Rusatom Service project portfolio for Kozloduy NPP in Bulgaria already includes a number of significant tasks, including a completed feasibility study for lifetime extension of the power unit No. 5-6 and modernization of turbogenerators for increased capacity to 104%.
