The works on erection and concreting of the reactor building inner containment third layer sections of Rooppur NPP power unit No.1 being constructed in Bangladesh (the General Contractor - JSC Atomstroyexport is included in the Engineering Division of ROSATOM) have been completed.
All works on the third layer were performed by TrestRosSEM LLC specialists for the period of 118 days. Totally, 2000 cubic meters of concrete mixture was placed.
Erection of the inner containment third layer - is one of the construction milestones at the Rooppur NPP site in 2020. It was achieved in compliance with the schedule. During the erection and concreting of the inner containment sections, new technical solutions were applied that allowed increasing the labor productivity.

It resulted in the spread of activities for erection of the main layer of the inner containment to support a polar crane. The polar crane is intended for installation of the reactor building main equipment (reactor pressure vessels, steam generators, main circulation pumps) as well as pipelines and other metal structures. Its structure is erected under the dome of the reactor building on a special rail in the form of a circle.
For reference
Rooppur NPP with two VVER-1200 reactors and the total capacity of 2400 MW is being constructed under the Russian design, 160 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, in accordance with General Contract dated 25 December 2015. The General Contractor for Rooppur NPP construction is Atomstroyexport (Engineering Division of ROSATOM).
The Russian design with VVER-1200 reactors that was selected for the first NPP in Bangladesh was successfully implemented at Unit 1 of Novovoronezh NPP-2. This is an evolutionary GenIII+ design, which fully complies with all international safety requirements. In 2017, the new Russian power unit was named among the three best nuclear power units in the world by the well-known international magazine POWER (USA). In 2015-2016, preparatory works were performed at the construction site, detailed design documentation and substantiation materials for receiving the license for the units siting and construction were developed. In 2017, Rooppur NPP project implementation continued according to the schedule. On 4 November 2017, the regulatory authority of Bangladesh (BAERA) issued the license for the NPP design and construction. On 30 November 2017, the ceremony of first concrete pouring for the foundation of Unit No 1, was held. On 14 July 2014, the active stage of construction of Unit No 2 commenced - the ceremony of first concrete pouring into the Power Unit foundation was held.
