On September 9, a working meeting of Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, and Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, took place in Minsk in the course of visit to the Republic of Belarus, where the progress of Belarus NPP construction project (the general designer and general contractor being ASE, Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division) and prospects of further cooperation were discussed.
During a conversation with the chairman of the Council of Ministers of Belarus, the head of Rosatom noted the efficiency of joint work of Russian and Belarusian experts in the implementation of Belarus NPP construction project and voiced his confidence that Rosatom will continue to assist Belarus colleagues in safety assurance and enhancement at nuclear power facilities.
“Belarus NPP has become an illustrative example of implementation of the best practices of Russian nuclear technologies”, Alexey Likhachev said . “Belarusian power units fully comply with international standards and IAEA requirements, which has been repeatedly proven by international experts within missions and inspections carried out at the NPP. Besides, new areas of cooperation have been defined, which are related both to the nuclear power technologies and non-power utilization. We are ready to be actively involved in projects related to “smart” power, digital solutions and research of our academies of sciences, all the way to implementation of a research reactor on the territory of the Republic of Belarus”.
The PM of Belarus Roman Golovchenko pointed out: “Construction of the NPP is the project of utmost importance for Belarus. It is necessary to meet on a regular basis, be on the same page and solve issues arising in the course of implementation of such a complex and large-scale project. In June this year, the first power unit was put into commercial operation, the work on construction of the second unit is under way. We are deeply interested in its commissioning within the dates provided for by our contract”.
The Belarus NPP equipped with two VVER-1200 reactors of 2,400 MW total capacity is being built in Ostrovets (the Republic of Belarus). The Russian III+ generation design that is fully compliant with the international standards and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safety recommendations has been selected for the first NPP in Belarus.
Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division unites the leading companies of the nuclear industry, namely: JSC Atomstroyexport (Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, branches in Russia and abroad), Joint Design Institute - JSC Atomenergoproekt (Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, St-Petersburg branches - design institutes, branches in Russia and abroad, R&D branches) and subsidiary construction organizations.
The Engineering Division ranks first in the world by the order portfolio and the number of NPPs constructed simultaneously across the world.
About 80% of the Division’s revenues originate from foreign projects.
The Engineering Division implements construction projects for high-power NPPs in Russia and across the world, renders a full range of EPC, EP, EPC(M) services including project management and design activities, and develops Multi-D technologies for the management of complex engineering facilities. The Division relies on the achievements of the Russian nuclear industry and innovative state-of-the-art technologies.
We construct reliable and safe NPPs with III+Gen VVER reactors that are in line with all international requirements and recommendations. www.ase-ec.ru
