An effective transport system to transport nuclear materials, radioactive substances and products that have been produced from these materials has been established in Russia using both road and rail transport. A specialised organisation known as 'Atomspetstrans' (which is part of the structure of Rosatom) organises transportation both within the Russian Federation and beyond her borders, and has all the necessary licences, hardware and expertise.

A special route is being developed as well as a timetable for the transportation of nuclear materials, which ensures additonal security en route. Background radiation at all stages of transportation is always under control. The system works very precisely: in the last half century not one emergency has been reported during the transportation of nuclear fuel.

Apart from that 'Alyanstransatom' advertises these transport services to other companies in the sector.
