On October 17–18, 2017 ROSATOM and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation with participation of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran held the seminar on the 25 Years of Cooperation between Russia and Iran in the Area of Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy: New Prospects under Appendix III to the Joint Compressive Plan of Action”.
At the seminar, the Iranian side was represented by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Iran to Russia M. Sanai, Vice President of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran B. Kamalvandi, Head of Nuclear Regulatory Authority of Iran H. Salehi as well as Iranian parliamentarians, including Chairman of the Parliamentary Energy Commission F. Hasanvand, and experts in peaceful uses of atomic energy.
At the seminar, the Russian side was represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S. Ryabkov, Detuty Chairman of Rostechnadzor A. Ferapontov, Deputy Director General and Director for International Relations of ROSATOM N. Spasskiy as well as representatives of the Federal Council I. Morozov and the State Duma G. Sklyar. In addition to the experts from ROSATOM, the seminar was attended by specialists from the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Russia, Federal Medical Biological Agency of Russia, Nuclear Safety Institute of the Russian Academy of Science, and National Research Center Kurchatov Institute.

The guests of the seminar were the representatives of the countries which participate in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Actions (China, France, Germany, UK, and USA) as well as high-ranking officials from the European Commission and Secretariat of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
On the first day the seminar saw a substantive exchange of opinions on the JCPA role in ensuring predictable and stable cooperation of Iran with Russia, as well as with other countries, in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy in the framework of areas listed in Appendix III to JCPA. Speeches at the seminar demonstrated to the world community that both Russia and Iran strongly intend to stick to JCPA provisions and view it as the well-balanced operating document which considers interests of all parties involved in its development and adoption.
On the second day of the seminar the Iranian specialists and guests of the seminar were given an opportunity to have a look at the ROSATOM Technical Academy and All-Russia Research Institute of Radiology and Agroecology in Obninsk (Kaluga Region).
The seminar demonstrated that the formed practice of the bilateral cooperation between Russia and Iran, trust and mutual respect made the good base for further development of the cooperation of the two countries in the field of the peaceful use of atomic energy.
Before the seminar, N. Spasskiy and B. Kamalvandi held negotiations where, according to the formed tradition, discussed the entire range of Russian-Iranian nuclear interaction.
