On the 2nd November 2017 ROSATOM and the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan signed the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy.
The document was signed by Director General of ROSATOM Alexei Likhachev and President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic Uzbekistan Bekhzod Yuldoshev. The memorandum was signed in witness of the chairmen of the governments of Russia and Uzbekistan, Dmitry Medvedev and Abdulla Aripov.
The Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy has recorded the intentions of the parties to develop cooperation in the fields related to practical use of nuclear technologies and staff training. In particular, it is planned to cooperate in creation and development of nuclear infrastructure in the Republic of Uzbekistan, development of programs aimed at higher awareness of the Uzbekistani public on nuclear technologies and their application through creation of corresponding information centers, conduct of the basic and applied research in nuclear physics, the use radioisotopes and radiation technologies in industry, medicine, agriculture and other areas.
For closer cooperation, the two parties plan to sign a standard umbrella intergovernmental agreement concerning the cooperation in the field of the peaceful use of atomic energy.
