November 22, Sochi -  A round table «Synergy of IT integrators of the largest Russian companies to  develop export capability» was held at ATOMEXPO-2022 International Forum. The event was organized by Greenatom JSC with the support of the Association of the largest software and hardware consumers.
Among the conference participants were: Evgeny Abakumov, Information Technology Director of ROSATOM; Evgeny Charkin, Deputy General Director of Russian Railways; Dariy Khalitov, Vice President of Information Systems Development of Rostelecom PJSC; Roman Shchetkin, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Information Technologies, Automation and Telecommunications of Gazprom Neft PJSC; Andrey Lavrov, First Deputy General Director of Greenatom JSC.
Igor Orellana Ursua, Technical and Executive Director of SiSoft Development JSC, Andrey Klimov, Deputy General Director of Astra Group of Companies, and Shavkat Abdukamilov, Director of the branch of the National Research Nuclear University of “Moscow Engineering Physics Institute” in Tashkent, shared their expert position on strengthening the domestic IT market and experience in entering foreign markets.
The round table was moderated by Renata Abdullina, Chairman of the Association of the largest software and hardware consumers, and Alexander Kalinin, CEO of Sibedge, a member of RUSSOFT.
“The quitting of foreign vendors have created favorable conditions for development of  Russian IT industry and greater number of IT solutions. This year we have demonstrated to the whole world that the IT market in Russia has not only not been broken, but is also developing successfully. This naturally caused a request from friendly countries to exchange experience in gaining technological sovereignty of the country”, said Renata Abdulina.
During the discussion, industry experts discussed the implementation of import-substitution programs, determined which import-substituted products have grown to the current competitive level, and whether they can advance to the markets of friendly countries independently or in a package with other technological solutions.
Evgeny Abakumov said: “ROSATOM, like other major companies in the country, is going through its own unique path of transition to a new technological level. It is not the first time  in the history of our country, but today we are very limited in time. We have no other way but to achieve technological sovereignty. Today we are acquiring a unique experience that will be useful to our partner countries around the world. The nuclear industry is a large testing area for advanced import – independent solutions: system-wide and engineering software, as well as enterprise resource management software, is being tested and replicated here. Now each country must think about its digital independence, and ROSATOM, as one of the global technology leaders, is ready to help in this process, both in terms of expertise and solutions”.
“Our solutions are already working abroad and have prospects for further implementation. At the same time, the combined potential of the holding's IT structures is able to satisfy the demand of a much larger number of customers in   transport industry and in other sectors of the economy. I am sure that our cooperation with colleagues within the framework of the Association of the largest software and hardware consumers will help us all to develop digital services more effectively and promote them abroad”, Evgeny Charkin noted.
“Today we discussed not only our internal agenda dedicated to the internal tasks of digital transformation of our companies, but also exchanged experience and current developments in terms of exporting our software products to foreign markets. With great pleasure for myself I can note that the representatives of today's meeting have something to share on this issue, I believe that one of the potentially undisclosed areas of activity of Association of the largest  software and hardware consumers is the search for points of cooperation in terms of developing the export potential of our software products and we need to continue discussions on this topic”, Dariy Khalitov emphasized.
“Opportunities are opening up for development in a new technological paradigm. For Gazprom Neft, this is the development of an open industrial automation platform. Without ready–to-use  digital solutions on the Western market, we prescribe standards for building a platform for our business  with the ability to scale solutions for the industry”, Roman Shchetkin said.
“Today we openly discussed how realistic the task is for the largest Russian companies, whether they are able to cope with their own IT integrators, and where they see an inevitable request to the market of professional developers of IT products and services. The probability of success of the task, when IT products that are competitive for export potential should be created not by the market, but by profile customers, everyone evaluates differently, but everyone agrees that it will be extremely difficult”, Alexander Kalinin summed up.
For reference:
The Association of the largest software and hardware consumers is the first union of the largest customers of software and IT equipment in Russia. The promoters of the Association are the State Corporations ROSATOM and Roscosmos, Gazprom Neft and Rostelecom. In 2022, Transneft, Russian Railways, DOM.RF became members of the Association. The Association was created to consolidate the efforts of its members, develop the Russian IT solutions market, promote the sustainable development of organizations that ensure the technological independence of Information technologies, as well as improve the quality and competitiveness of domestic software and IT equipment.
