On 28 May, another round of Interdepartmental consultations of the Russian side with the IAEA delegation led by Director General Mr. Rafael Grossi took place in Kaliningrad.
The Russian delegation headed by Director General of ROSATOM Mr. Alexey Likhachev comprised Head of Rostechnadzor Mr. Alexander Trembitskiy, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Troops of Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defence of the Russian Armed Forces and the National Guard Troops Federal Service of the Russian Federation.
The consultations focused on nuclear safety and security of the Zaporozhskaya NPP. Mr. Alexey Likhachev confirmed readiness of the Russian side to continue active work on ensuring safe operation of the Zaporozhskaya NPP against the background of relentless Ukrainian provocations. The ROSATOM Director General addressed in detail interaction with the IAEA experts present at the plant.
Mr. Rafael Grossi, in his turn, shared his assessment of the situation at the Zaporozhskaya NPP.
Other aspects of cooperation between Russia and the IAEA were also touched upon, in particular, those related to the prospects of global nuclear energy development.
The parties confirmed their arrangement to continue contacts on a regular basis.
